There were no adverse effects of Artrex® on the hematological values or the various biochemical and metabolic parameters evaluated in the study.

ARTREX® has bee sold successfully in multiple countries of the world over 20 years. There have been no reported events during this entire time.

Talking To Doctor

Open, honest communication with your doctor and your family is important so that you can receive the best care. So see your physician when you suspect that there may be a problem. Once your condition is confirmed, get complete information on all modalities of treatment and make the proper decisions, in consultation with your doctor and family, and taking into considerations the other possible existing physical conditions and potential side effects and drug interactions of all therapies prescribed. It is important to evaluate the long term maintenance and cumulative toxic side effects of prescribed medicinals. Stay involved with your treatment decisions by asking the right questions. Then, after you have charted out a course of treatment, measure your progress on a regular basis.

ARTREX® as a natural product for supporting healthy bones and joints may be an aid when prescribed arthritis medications are indicated. Please consult your physician to determine how ARTREX® can support your treatment needs.

Why use complementary and alternative therapies?

Approximately one in every four people worldwide have bone and joint disorders. If you have arthritis, you may suffer from chronic pain. It can limit your ability to perform daily activities, leading to isolation. Over time you may start to feel disheartened. But you don't have to suffer in silence. Ask your doctor about treatments that can help you manage your arthritis pain and resume your daily activities. The choice is in your hands, whether to suffer silently in pain, or to take a supplement that helps control the inflammation and pain, yet without the side effects seen with some of the prescription drugs.

Advantages of ARTREX®

Compared to other supplements for bone and joint health, ARTREX® has

  • - Supports the Body's inflammatory and immune response functions*
  • - Precise blend of four well documented extracts working in harmony
  • - Artrex® does not interfere with glucose or lipid metabolism

In studies conducted by Bioved and various other investigators/academic institutions the four plants or Artrex® did not interfere with commonly taken synthetic medications and supplements, including those for chronic heart, lung, renal and gastro-intestinal disorders. There is also no contra-indication to taking Artrex® with other supplements.

Understanding Arthritis

Arthrus - joint, itis - inflammation.

Arthritis is the inflammation of bones and joints. Arthritis is the number one cause of disability, affecting 25% of the population worldwide. It refers to a group of more than 100 rheumatic diseases and conditions that can cause pain, stiffness and swelling in the joints. Certain conditions may affect other parts of the body -- such as the muscles, bones, and some internal organs -- and can result in debilitating complications. If left undiagnosed and untreated, arthritis can cause irreversible damage to the joints.

Arthritis continues to increase both in terms of actual numbers and symptoms, due most likely to increased longevity and active lifestyles. More than $ 15 billion is spent each year on drug treatment. In recent years, arthritis is being more actively treated, as greater emphasis is being placed on improving the treatment of the chronic disease for Quality of Life considerations.

There are several forms of Arthritis which include the two best known:

Rheumatoid Arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an immunological disease characterized by inflammatory arthritis of peripheral small and large joints and associated with a number of other manifestations. Incidence of Rheumatoid Arthritis is reported to be approximately 2% of the world population, with the common inflammatory arthritis at about 10%. Two to three times more women are affected than men, and can start as early as the childhood years, causing life long pain and suffering.

Osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative joint disease, results from the wear and tear of life. The pressure of gravity causes physical damage to the joints and surrounding tissues, leading to pain, tenderness, swelling, and decreased function. Initially, osteoarthritis is non-inflammatory and its onset is subtle and gradual, usually involving one or only a few joints. The joints most often affected are the knee, hip and hand. Pain is the earliest symptom, usually made worse by repetitive use. The incidence of osteoarthritis is reported to be more than 25% of the world population. With the significant increase in age expectancy and in active lifestyles, in both developed and developing countries, the incidence of osteoarthritis will likely increase significantly over the next decade. Other risk factors include joint trauma, obesity, and repetitive joint use.

FAQs

What is arthritis?

The word arthritis literally means joint inflammation ("arthr-" means joint; "-itis" means inflammation). There are many types of arthritis. Most forms of arthritis are chronic, which means they may last a lifetime.

Who gets arthritis?

Nearly 70 million Americans, or one in every four people, have arthritis. It affects people of all ages, but it most often comes on as a person gets older.

How does arthritis make you feel?

Arthritis usually causes stiffness, pain and fatigue. The severity varies from person to person, and even from day to day. In some people, only a few joints are affected and the impact may be small. In other people, the entire body system may be affected.

What are the warning signs of arthritis?

Your joints may feel stiff and be hard to move. You may find that it's hard to do daily tasks you used to do easily, such as climbing stairs or opening a jar. Pain and stiffness may be more severe during certain times of the day or after you've done certain tasks. Some types of arthritis cause swelling, or inflammation. The skin over the joint may appear swollen and red, and feel hot to the touch. Some types of arthritis can also cause fatigue.

Why is better, stronger, healthier cartilage important?

When your cartilage is damaged, either as a result of primary osteoarthritis or flowing from an injury (secondary osteoarthritis), you will suffer the consequences. Since cartilage protects the bones from coming into contact with one another, the opposite result is extremely painful. In a great many cases, it can lead to surgery. As your cartilage begins to lose its "fluid-like" capabilities, the process of osteoarthritis has begun. Whether the result of aging, genetics, overuse or injury some 40 million Americans suffer with this debilitating disease. Whether you suffer this disease or are trying to prevent it, every step that you can take to avoid the consequences is well worth it.

I'm currently taking VIOXX/CELEBREX, can I still take Artrex® in addition to this?

Yes, Artrex® can be started immediately at diagnosis of your condition along with any NSAIDs such as Indomethacin or Celebrex. Artrex® acts along with these drugs to provide a potent and natural anti-inflammatory effect in the control of the disease condition and symptoms. Many of the patients taking these drugs with ARTREX, have been able to decrease and/or wean off the prescription medicines over a period of time, while continuing on Artrex® to give long term maintenance of mobility and pain control, without any side effects.

Are there any side effects to ARTREX?

In some patients, minor incidence of heartburn is seen at the start of ARTREX. This is due to the presence of the active principles of ginger in the formulation, and is an indication of the potency of the product. Hence, it is advised to take Artrex® with food or a glass of milk. In the clinical studies conducted, the incidence of minor side effects such as nausea, abdominal pain, transient skin rash and insomnia were equally seen in both the treatment and placebo groups, hence not significant.

Can I take Artrex® with glucosamine?

Preliminary evidence suggests glucosamine supplements, derived from lobster and crab shells, may help relieve arthritis pain, possibly by encouraging cartilage growth. Due to this mechanism of action it usually takes 8-10 weeks to start seeing benefits with glucosamine. Artrex® has an anti-flammatory effect, and in clinical studies has shown to relieve pain as early as 3 weeks from initiation of treatment.
